Recently as a creative exercise, I have been using the Portal 2 mod kit to create playable game chambers. While some of the ones I have been working on have been more simple as I just get my feet wet with it, I believe even thinking about it more in the back of my head has been a good exercise in level design creativity. 
Listed below is an image of the first chamber in a series called "Catapult". This chamber is a timing exercise as it forces the player to drop the cube onto the first launch platform and quickly make their way back to the other side before timing their jump to catch the crate in the air and then drop down to the platform below to create the bridge to the exit.
This is the first in a series of increasingly difficult puzzles I am working to create, similar to how the base game of Portal slowly raises the difficult based on what mechanics it is trying to teach you. Check out the playable video above!

In the second level of my chamber series I wanted to build upon the first, but still challenge the player's thinking. In the first map the focus was more on teaching the player to move about the map using the launch pads. However, in this map I wanted to show the player how to move their portals about, rather than themselves. 
This is building another layer of complexity, and eventually will lead to the player needing to both move themselves and portals throughout the map in order to be successful.
